So we went to Notre Dame after the Louvre, and although the church is always free, it usually costs a couple euros to take the stairs to the top. Since it was Sunday, it was free! I love free stuff. :)
We did have to wait in a pretty long line in order to climb the stairs though...probably because it was free. But good company made the time go pretty quickly, although we were happy when our group got to go inside! (they let people in in about groups of 20 or 30)
Notre Dame is celebrating it's 850th anniversary this year, so they have big signs proclaiming this fact. And they are getting more/new bells which unfortunately won't be ready until August so we couldn't pretend we were following Quasimoto around. :(
We went up some stairs, and hung out for about 5 minutes in this waiting area that had some nice windows and paintings...as well as a very limited gift shop. I definitely wish that they had had a bigger gift shop/Catholic store...I would have definitely bought something then!
We didn't take these particular stairs, but you can see how small they are! |

And then there were Gargoyles!

The elephant :) |
Unfortunately my camera died, so these are the last pictures I was able to take! And although I would have preferred to have less people inside the church, Notre Dame is huge. There are a bunch of side altars as well, some where they were having prayer services...so there is the main altar and then basically a bunch of mini-churches and chapels inside. After this we went souvenir shopping, then I met up with Juliette and we walked to the Bastille and around the Seine River...overall, a nice day. :)
