Over here in general

There are a couple things that are completely different from the US, the first being that pretty much no one accepts credit cards. Grocery stores will mostly accept the "Maestro" cards (from Deutsch bank, etc), but nothing else. It certainly is quite a change, because most of the time at home I don't have cash.

Another difference is smoking. A lot of people smoke here, and there are a lot of cigarette dispensing machines along the street...some don't even require any ID.

The one nice thing is the lack of tipping. Although if you get a really good server the suggested tip is 10%, most of the time you don't tip...which makes things easier on a student budget. :)

One thing I don't like is the lack of free water, and the lack of refills. Water is usually 2-3e, and a .25L Coke is about the same...which is kind of funny, because beer is cheaper than water. Go figure.
